Synopsis: Title 9 was passed by the National government in an attempt to establish gender equality in sports. The act led to the amount of fonding to male sports to be exactly the same as the funding towards womens sports. What has this lead to: a decrease in male sports accross universities everywhere. No longer does KU have a male swimming or tennis team. What happens when us males want to pursue these types of activites where can we turn.
The issue I really have it hand comes in terms of athletic revenue gain. At KU, men's basketball generates the most income for the school and mens football is a close second. The reason why: ticket sales. Male and female students and alumni flood the gates coming to these games to see the prized Jayhawk athletes. Now here is the kicker: you go to a women's basketball game and the seats are all vacant and you can hear the crickets cherp. Where all the fans now. The problem is no one cares to watch these girls play because they play at a slower game speed and the hype around the team is non existent.
SO for every girl who vouches for TITLE IX I want to ask you: where the hell are you at, I don't see you supporting your female athletes. Why do you want equal funding towards female sports while you can't even support your own gender by watching these athletes play. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME
